GREAT question, Easy...You know when it occurred to me that it was an addiction? When I looked up the definition of 'addiction'

–noun
the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming to such an extent that its cessation seems almost impossible, no matter how much one wants to stop.

I realized then that I had moods that I felt I COULDN'T get out of, even though I wanted to feel better. I realized that my habit of worrying, anxiety, anger, etc. was almost a compulsion at times, even though I wanted to feel better. Then, I started researching neuroscience (as a layman) and the science of neuropeptides and emotional chemicals, and sure enough, I found that thoughts and emotions DO create physiological dependency!!! BINGO!!!

From there I researched and channeled from my Higher Self the ONA program.

Hi there...

That's huge... I mean, no one is aware, that this is just an addiction... bought myself "Evolve your brain"... just discovered, he says the same thing... and most people aren't aware

I mean I'm glad I am aware now... at least more than before

Just need some advice on the following: I ordered a book about overcoming stage fright (as I want to do give talks on certain topics, but I'm sooo afraid of standing in front of the crowd... kinda ambivalent... maybe my addiction again *?*) aaand I ... well tried to read a book about "mirror neurons", as I was interested in... you know the biological mechanisms, that might explain, why people, that have those self-esteem issues are "by mistake" treated the way they think about themselves etc.
Well those books are not really positive or uplifting and I just thought to myself (especially the book on mirror neurons triggered me when it came to "... and what happens if someone had a dysfunctional childhood is..." or something like that)... should I, at least for the 4 weeks of the program, try not to read materials like that? I mean like... avoid the things that are likely to trigger me? Put books aside, switch TV channels etc.? As long as I'm "not stable" yet?

Aaand... I'm on holiday right now and I wish I could do it for the whole program, but I can't and I have to go back to my job on Monday... to be true, *whisper* I hate my job... what should I do? I mean, that's some kind of constant trigger

Is it "too much", I'm watching my favourite comedian as much as I can the resently...?

Oh ... but one thing that "coincidentally" came up in the book about mirror neurons...: some prof found out, as small children (and I guess as adults as well...) we become addicted to other people's attention!! Does the ONA-program help to overcome this, too? I mean, I guess it's not a problem if people were giving me the attention "I need" constantly, but as they have a life on their own, guess chances are it won't be like that (as I've already discovered )

Hi Easy!

Personally I have found that the ONA program "weeds" out the things in our mental / emotional spheres that are not serving us ... so as far as any other "needs" or addictions that you have in your life, the ONA program helps you to release them. It really helps you get down to the nitty gritty of our emotions and triggers .... staring at them right in the face and going head - to head with them. For instance, regarding your need for attention ... what happens if you do not get it ? How do you feel? How does your body feel? Where in your body do you feel this sense of emotion, loss, anger from not getting this attention that you "needed"? Do you feel a tightnes in your chest, in your abdomen, in your back, in your throat?

And when you have not gotten a lot of attention on a given day, or in a given week, or month, what happens? Will you be triggered by others, flying into a rage? Or will you just feel kind of down, maybe a little weepy?
Does it remind you of a painful time in your past , maybe when you were little?

So this is a process of self-learning, awareness and self healing so that we can be amazingly more aware and more free of the emotions that we are addicted to ... but never knew we were!!!

Blessings,
Marianne

Hi Marianne

So the name of the game is "vibeswitching, vibeswitching, vibeswitching"... because... I feel like I'm triggered only even more, when I try to "analyze" why it triggered me... *?*

Any suggestions? How did you vibeswitch?
Might sound silly, but I keep coming back to the manual so often like "Oooh my god, ok, I've been triggered... ok, what to do??" and then I try to think of something funny or really just start moving or laughing (not aloud, as I don't want others to notice what I'm doing) or imagine what it felt like to be on a trampoline...
Gosh, I've been triggered a lot today... and sometimes, I feel so helpless... also my addiction? Just keep on vibeswitching?

Do most Abers, even Esther and Jerry... fall back into the addiction, because they don't switch but "work the emotion up the scale"? I mean, by "working it up", the body has enough opportunity to fill itself up with those related biochemicals... doesn't it??

One tool I use is GRATITUDE .... exercising my gratitude muscles is a big - time vibe switch. Most people have no idea how important it is on a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual level to be grateful ... it floods the mind with the hapy biochemicals and brings ease to our body. It is a spiritual law that at one time only the Masters knew, and it has just been just starting to rapidly disseminate over the last five to ten years or so .... (at least in my own spheres of influence).

I am grateful to be breathing right now ... I am grateful to be healthy right now ... I am grateful for the vitality of my body right now ... I am grateful for my dear friends right now ... i am grateful for the love of my parents right now ... I am grateful for having a delicious, succulent peach to eat for a snack right now ....

Also for me, going into the "why's" of the trigger does not trigger me ... it may bring out some emotion , crying, etc ... but by not resisting this and allowing the "root" of the trigger to make itself known, i am receiving my own inner wisdom and allowing for the opportunity to heal. This is when the big "A-HA!!!!!" moments shine through, and we are NEVER the same after these because they bring enormous clarity and self-knowledge and wisdom.

Example: The day I traced back my impatience and emotional reactions to some of my husband's behavior to the fact that I really did not feel honored or "seen" oftentimes by my mother was a breakthrugh that changed my life forever (and saved my relationship from lots of misplaced anger).
I also have a much better relationship with my mom because I was able to see what had happened and clear it, and forgive the situation.

ONA is an amazing journey !!!

Hi Easy!!!

The way I understand it, the Abraham philosophy seeks to "feel good" and I believe some of their exercises help us to work our way up the emotional scale to reach for the emotions that feel better and better and better. Here is a quote I found ...

"Find thoughts that feel good, because it is inevitable that you are going to always be moving toward something. So why not be moving toward something that is pleasing? You can't cease to vibrate, and Law of Attraction will not stop responding to the vibration that you are offering. So, expansion is inevitable. You provide it, whether you know you do, or not. The only question is, what is the standard of joy that you are demanding for yourself?"

--Excerpted from the Abraham Hicks workshop in Seattle, WA on Saturday, July 2nd, 2005. </B>

Here is another one, this one did not contain a reference date ...

"You are continually offering a message, or pure meaning, to the Universe. Not through your words, not through your thoughts, but through the way you feel.
Of course, the way you feel in any moment is as a result of your choice of thought or word. But it is the way that you feel that is your true message to the Universe, and it is the way that you feel that is your point of magnetic attraction. And that which is like unto itself is drawn." -- Abraham
